Persona 5's just dropped in Japan, and right on time: September 20th 2016 marks the twenty year anniversary of Atlus' beloved flagship JRPG of metropolitan friends fighting mythic figures. A special occasion calls for a special guest, so we invited the charming Bob Mackey (Retronauts, USGamer, Talking Simpsons) to discuss the ins and outs of Persona and how it's changed over the years.
Also, We Play Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander, the Final Fantasy/FTL mash-up we never knew we wanted, and we go back to Persona's roots in Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei. Alvin checks out the latest update to VR game Space Pirate Trainer, while Robert reviews Psycho Pass: Mandatory Happiness. Also, Solitarica: A Solitaire RPG? It's more likely than you think.
It also happens to be MisanthroPlay's first anniversary! We've had a lot of fun producing episodes of this little podcast over the course of the past year, and we're thrilled that we're able to release on a regular schedule. Our listener numbers have nearly doubled over the course of the summer, and a very special thank you goes out to all of you for tuning in, writing in, and leaving iTunes reviews. You're all amazing and we love you.
Unless you're a .hack game.
