Robert M Fenner is an American writer and multimedia artist based in London, UK. He has been creating experimental music in various guises since 1998 and holds a BA with honours in sound art & design from London College of Communication. He initially founded MisanthroPop.net in 2010 as a means to showcase his work, before switching to MisanthroPop.com in late 2014.
From 2007-2011, Fenner curated The Liberty Snake, a sporadic series of anti-music events that showcased performances by up-and-coming avant garde musicians within the UK. The Liberty Snake hosted acts such as Linea Aspera, Now Wash Your Hands, Babyducks, Noi Kabat and many more. Since 2012, he has hosted the yearly queer/alternative electro/noise/hip hop event Club Jigoku alongside artist and curator Justyna Burzynska. He has also co-curated events alongside promoters such as Brave Exhibitions, Future Brain, Decasia, Reeperbahn and others. Performing as Nurvuss, Fenner was the opening act of Drop Dead Festival 2010 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Fenner has held a keen interest in Japanese popular culture since childhood, with a particular focus on video games and underground heta-uma manga. As he grew older he began to examine the sources that influenced such games and developed a strong interest in other fields such as existentialist ero-guro nansensu literature and angura theatre. He achieved an MA in Japanese Cultural Studies and Creative Industries at Birkbeck University of London in 2014.
He currently lives in London with his partner and their cat Borscht.
Gee That Was Dry
Hi! My name's Bob and I really like making stuff, writing stuff, playing video games and talking about video games. The thing is, I'm notoriously bad about making this stuff available on the web. So I thought, no more, time to put all my stuff in one place. That place is MisanthroPop dot com!
Using the handy navigation bar located just beneath the logo found at the top of this page, you can easily check out my music, zines, games and other projects I've been involved with. You can even check out my blog, where I talk about nerdy stuff to nobody in particular.
As of August 2015, I have joined the reviews & previews editorial department at RPGFan.com, which is an honor and a privilege. I will be posting links to these under the Articles heading of this website, for convenience. So please have a look!
Anyway, here it all is. MisanthroPop: It Tastes Bad!™
